Why is Bad Kleinkirchheim a good ski resort for school groups?

Bad Kleinkirchheim is located in the far south-eastern corner of Austria and is on the edge of Nock Mountain National Park in Carinthia. This is where downhill race legend Franz Klammer began his skiing career, so your students will be following in his footsteps. Bad Kleinkirchheim has 25 ski lifts and 32 ski runs and while most are aimed at intermediate ability skiers, there are still nursery areas for first timers.

Getting to Bad Kleinkirchheim
The closest airport to Bad Kleinkirchheim is Klagenfurt which is 56km away and can be reached in 45 minutes. Other than this you have Salzburg (172 km), Vienna (324 km) and Munich (342km) which all take between 2-3 hours to reach.

For beginners
While there are some challenging pistes for experts, including some truly terrifying black runs, the majority of the resort is perfect for beginner-intermediate and intermediate skier. The flat meadows by the village serve as nursery areas come winter. If you take the Gondola up to the top of Nockalm you will find some more warm, sunny nursery slopes followed by a long blue run, that's the length of the Nockalm gondola.

Bad Kleinkirchheim has lots accommodation ranging from budget hotels to self catering apartments. Quite a few schools stay a bit further out, where accommodation is better priced, though it does mean a short journey to the slopes.
