Why is Waterville Valley a good ski resort for school groups?

Located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Waterville Valley is an outstanding ski resort with over 220 acres of skiable terrain. Since the resort opened it has also been the stage for 13 world cup skiing events and has a variety of terrain, which makes it a very good all-rounder mountain that can cater for all different levels of skier.

We love this resort due to the all round true American atmosphere. Aside from the great snow conditions and well maintained slopes, the village offers ice skating, horse riding, snow shoeing, an indoor swimming pool and plenty more besides.

Getting to Waterville Valley
The nearest International airport to Waterville Valley is Portland which is 105 miles away, after this the next two main airports are Boston (2.5 hours away) and New York (6 hours away).

For beginners
Although famous for the black diamond runs that attract the world cup racers, Waterville Valley has 50 trails in total, the majority of which are school ski trip friendly blue runs. This means that the resort is really geared up for intermediate level skiers rather than first timers. We would still recommend this resort for school trips as there is a long green called valley run, and a handful more greens by the village. There is also a nursery area and a good ski school. Any students who have skied before and are comfortable on the American blue ski trails will have a blast at this resort - the blue trails from the summit are pure fun.

Waterville Valley accommodation
Waterville Valley has lots of family run inns and hotels which are perfect for school groups. The ski area is linked to the village by a free shuttle bus, where there are a variety shops and restaurants.
